A £16m redevelopment of this 1990 theatre. A striking new entrance from St Peter’s Street was created and the front-of-house areas were completely remodelled. New seating was installed in the Quarry and Courtyard Theatres (the latter also had a complete technical refit) and a new 100 seat performance space was created in the Bramall Rock Void. Ventilation systems were renewed and the Building was connected to Leeds’ District Heating Network, substanially reducing its carbon footprint. Designed by Page\Park Architects, the building has already won a number of awards.
I acted as End User Representative for the Playhouse throughout the project, which was managed by Leeds City Council. Leading on all liaison with the design and project teams, I also managed decant and fit-out programmes. The building opened to the public at the beginning of October 2019.
